Yesterday I was able to attend the Ogden Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For members of the church, attending the temple is a time to rest from the cares of the world while learning of our Heavenly Father’s plan of salvation. Yesterday was a special day for me as I was able to do the temple work for my uncle Andy. Andy passed away in 2022. It is always a great feeling when you can do the temple work for a relative, but in this case, there was a little more to it. Andy and I share the family name. By tradition (one that has ended by the way) the first-born male of the generation receives the name Lorentz A Claussen. Parents can choose whatever middle name they want to use as long as it starts with an A. My name is Lorenz Albert, my grandfather is Lorentz Arthur, and my uncle is Lorentz Andrew. I can continue the list, but you get the idea. The spelling of the first name has changed back and forth but the idea and the pronunciation are the same. As I entered the temple my mind started working on the idea that in my pocket I was holding the name of my uncle whom I would be doing the work. I also started to think about how odd it was to be going through the temple for someone with MY name. Even though it was clear that I was doing Uncle Andy’s work it felt like I was doing my work all over again. It was a very cool experience. Thank you, Uncle Andy.

I’ll put something cool here soon.
