“O praise the Lord, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the Lord endureth forever. Praise ye the Lord.” –Psalm 117
In my scripture study today I was able to hear the words of Psalm 117. As I listened to these simple words I thought to myself am I praising the Lord? Do I recognize his merciful kindness toward me? Have I contemplated that the truth of the Lord endureth forever? Well, if I’m writing about it then the answer is probably not.
So what does it mean to praise the Lord, to recognize his merciful kindness, and to understand the truth of the Lord endureth? The thought that comes to me is that these truths are manifest through my actions. My actions should praise the Lord, demonstrate his merciful kindness, and testify the truth of the Lord. I’m sure that these verses will mean a different thing to each who reads them. As I incorporate this teaching into my life I hope to be able to recognize these characteristics of my Lord in my life. I also hope that I will be able to submit myself to the Lord to allow him to mold me into the person he wants me to be.
